Porcelain tooth veneers are used by cosmetic dentists for many different purposes. If you choose porcelain veneers, you will first have to have an impression made of your teeth which will then be sent to a dental lab. The lab will then make a wax model of what your teeth will look after the veneers have been applied.

This will give you an idea of what your teeth will look like after the procedure is finished. You can go over any changes that might need to be made before your dentist starts the procedure. Once you’ve decided that the mold is acceptable it is sent back to the lab to make your custom porcelain veneers.

The next step is the prep work. This is done by applying temporary veneers to you teeth. At this time your cosmetic dentist can make any corrections to the teeth that need the work done and it also gives you an opportunity to see and get a feel for the porcelain veneers.

When your mold is finished at the lab, it is returned to your dentist. At that time your return to the dentist in order to have your temporary veneers removed and the new porcelain veneers attached to your teeth. You might experience a bit of sensitivity for a couple of days, but that about it.
Overall, putting up with a little discomfort is well worth the end result of obtaining a beautiful smile.
